Terms of Use

1. About Húsamús

Húsamús ("we", "us", "our") is an Icelandic online marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of new and used goods. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website husamus.is and any related services (the "Service").

2. Eligibility and account

• You must be at least 18 years of age or older to create an account, buy, sell, or otherwise use the Service. Accounts belonging to users under 18 will be suspended.
• Accounts are verified with an active Icelandic mobile phone number.
• Sign-in uses one-time 4-digit codes sent by SMS or email — Húsamús never asks for a password.
• You are responsible for keeping access to your phone number and email address secure, and for all activity on your account.
• Listings have no expiry date and stay active until you remove them or mark them as sold. After 30 days you can refresh a listing from your dashboard, which resets its posted date. Listings you delete or mark as sold are hidden from the marketplace immediately and can be reposted from your dashboard.

3. Listings and content

• Sellers are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and description of their listings.
• The following categories are strictly prohibited on Húsamús:
  • Alcohol and alcoholic beverages of any kind.
  • Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and prescription medication.
  • Nicotine products, including cigarettes, vapes, e-cigarettes, snus, and nicotine pouches.
  • Food and beverages (including home-made, packaged, or catered goods).
  • Nudity, sexually explicit material, or otherwise inappropriate imagery in listings, profile pictures, or messages.
  • Stolen goods, counterfeit items, weapons, live animals sold for profit, or any items prohibited by Icelandic or EU law.
• Nudity is prohibited. Every photo uploaded to Húsamús is screened automatically before a listing can be published. Images containing nudity or sexually explicit content are blocked and the listing cannot be posted. Vehicle registration plates are automatically blurred to protect privacy.
• Attempts to upload such imagery are logged as a moderation case for our review team and may result in removal of the listing and suspension or permanent deletion of the account.
• Users who post prohibited items or inappropriate images may be suspended or permanently banned from Húsamús without notice, and their content will be removed. Serious or repeat violations may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
• Húsamús may remove any listing at any time without notice if it violates these Terms.

4. Transactions

Húsamús is a marketplace and is not a party to any transaction between users. We do not verify the identity, quality, or safety of items listed. Buyers and sellers are responsible for arranging payment, delivery, and any warranties themselves.

5. Fees

Creating an account and posting standard listings is free. Optional premium services such as featured placements and banner advertising are subject to fees as published on our Advertise with us page.

6. Prohibited conduct

• No fraud, harassment, hate speech, or discriminatory content.
• No scraping, automated access, or reverse engineering of the Service.
• No impersonation of another person or business.

7. Intellectual property

The Húsamús name, logo, and site design are our intellectual property. Listings and photos remain the property of the user who posted them, but you grant Húsamús a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote them within the Service.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Húsamús is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or from transactions with other users.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us at husamus@husamus.is.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Iceland. Disputes shall be resolved by the District Court of Reykjavík.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
